Pronto's UniFi OSS solution provides unique opportunities to WiFi operators in the satellite networks market. Satellite operators are especially cognizant of a high cost of the WAN link, and the need to keep unauthenticated users and devices off the backhaul link.
Service control and authentication features at the remote NOC restrict satellite uplink access only to revenue-generating users. The UniFi OSS, by regulating the bandwidth on a per WiFi user basis, facilitates maximizing the revenue generated from the remote location. Secondly, by disconnecting the user upon expiration of their payment method (i.e. a prepaid WiFi account), or the user moving to a different remote location, accurate billing methods can be employed to allow service providers to offer a much broader set of bandwidth related services to its customers. IP address based auto-authentication of the remote satellite modem allows a remote user to be billed only when connected to the network. The Pronto Service Gateway enforces this session, and in conjunction with the UniFi OSS, allows for a new set of enhanced bandwidth services to be offered by the satellite operator. Key Benefits of Pronto's Solution for Satellite Network Operators
Pronto Networks offers this solution on a product sale as well as a Software as a Service model. Pronto's Managed Services Platform enables operators to operate as a "virtual WISP" during the initial build out and operational phases, while leveraging the back-office expertise of Pronto Networks. Pronto Managed Services allows WISPs to maintain control over their entire operations via a WISP portal.
